Malcesine is very popular in the summer for water sports, from sailing to windsurfing, but even in low season it continues to be a destination for magnificent walks through the olive groves and the Mediterranean vegetation of the surrounding hills.
From Malcesine the modern cableway takes tourists first to the station of San Michele at 1000 meters and then on to the summit by changing cabins to one that rotates automatically thereby allowing all of the occupants to enjoy the spectacular 360 ° views. At the summit of Monte Baldo which is at 1780 metres there are fully equipped ski fields which operate during the winter months.
During the year, hang-gliders and paragliders use these same ski slopes as a launch pad for taking to the air in a panoramic flight over Lake Garda.
Those who love mountain biking and walking have ample scope in Malcesine with a myriad of marked paths and cycle routes.
